Kroger is working with Retail Insight, a leading store-focused retail analytics solutions provider, to support the company’s commitment to creating communities free from hunger and waste.
Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan sits at the center of its ESG strategy. It reflects its commitment to improving access to fresh, affordable, and healthy food for everyone – for generations to come.
Kroger works with other organizations to use data and analytics in creative new ways to tackle these challenging but solvable global problems.
Retail Insight’s WasteInsight solution, the industry-leading food waste management platform, will help enhance Kroger’s management and visibility and reduce products that are approaching the end of shelf life. It uses machine learning to tackle surplus food waste throughout Kroger’s ecosystem, such as the optimization of markdown discounts to maximize sell-through while minimizing the impact on margin.
Our collaboration will extend into supporting waste reduction at all points in the store, with WasteInsight’s reporting layer providing a deeply enriched view of key issues, including process execution, compliance, seasonal stock management, and forecasting integration. All of this will come together to enable Kroger to sell more and waste less.
“At Kroger, our Zero Hunger | Zero Waste impact plan supports our thriving communities every day,” says Paula Kash, Group Vice President of Kroger Operations. “We are proud to join forces with Retail Insight to reduce waste within our stores with better visibility into streamlining inventory and a smart markdown program, advancing our shared mission to protect our planet for generations to come."
“We are delighted to partner with Kroger and contribute towards their Zero Hunger, Zero Waste initiative,” says Paul Boyle, CEO at Retail Insight. "This data-driven approach to reducing food waste is something we are very passionate about, and we look forward to all the benefits we can collectively drive together."
